The Ward C. Cheney Camp Memorial is located in Center Park
During the Spanish-American War members of 1st Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, Co. G of the Connecticut National Guard
were called into service. Company "G" was made of Manchester residents with 3 of the members being of the Cheney family.
Sgt Ward Cheney was later commissioned a 1stLt and served in the Philippenes with the 4th Infantry. The other members served
in Cuba.
